To set the audio recording attributes

  1. Choose Record Audio from the Tools menu.

    The Connection Speed dialog box is displayed.

    This dialog box will not display if you have specified a default connection speed on the Tools Options dialog box. For more information on choosing a connection speed, click here.

  2. Select the connection speed at which most of your viewers will be connecting; then click OK.

    The Media Properties dialog box is displayed.

  3. Switch to the Advanced tab.
  4. Click Audio.

    The Customize dialog box is displayed.

  5. Use this dialog box to set a recording format and the recording frequency and sample rate.

Alive e-Show will encode audio in voice quality mono. Therefore, you should not record your audio at a sample rate higher than 22 Khz.

When recording audio, PCM sampling consumes X bytes per sample, where X is:
   1, for 8 bit Mono
   2, for 8 bit Stereo
   2, for 16 bit Mono
   4 for 16 bit Stereo

Therefore, setting your audio recording rate to 22 Khz (22,000 samples per second), 8 bit mono would consume approximately 22K per second of hard disk space.

Alive e-Show always encodes in mono so it is unnecessary to record your audio in stereo.

When you publish your e-show, you can delete any media files that you recorded while creating it.
